Hello,

My name is Vincent, i live in France. I help to develop Movim, an internationnal social network, it haven't the goal to be a concurrent against Facebook but to purpose a free and decentralized alternative, in respect to Free Software philosophy.

I invite you to discover our project : http://movim.eu/ (it's still in development).

Screenshot : http://pix.kegtux.org/images/jyraphedoesitne.png

How to contribute ?

We need translators : we wish Movim.eu to be understandable in as many languages as possible, and even in some dialects for each country !

So we think to purpose Movim in your language (or in the dialect of your choice) could permit to enlarge the diffusion of this new Social Network.

Are you motivated ? Good !

If you have the courage to translate everything it would be perfect, but i'll be happy if you try to translate some pieces of text.

black tencate, free for you to support a crappy translation, fortunately we don't do volunteer work for you. People interested in the project want a quality translation, that Google Translation is not able to do. 🙄

Here is Movim in german, the last update was yesterday : http://movim.eu/home&l=de Is there any correction to do ?

Then you should may consider, few-word-phrases without context may be a bit difficult to translate... expecially I would be carefull with the marked ones:

Visit the project > Besuchen sie das Projekt → here may be better: Besuchen sie die Projekthomepage

on this website > Auf dieser Website –> or: "auf diese Webseite" (Context)

and the website > und die Website –> or: "und diese Webseite" (Context)

Error 404 - Page Not Found > Fehler 404 - Seite nicht gefunden

not found > nicht gefunden

Install Movim on your webserver > Installiere Movim auf deinem Webserver –> or: Installieren sie Movim auf ihrem Webserver (first one is more personal, the second one is more formal, but also more polite and would suit better for older people...

You may should consider to make two german translations, one personal and one formal... would make the network more interesting for people of all ages...

See the sourcecode > Siehe den Quellcode –> "Quellcode anzeigen" would be better here

Mailing List > Mailing Liste –> here you can use "Nachrichten" or "Posteingang" instead...

If you want to have quality translations, then better ask someone, who is member and show him the exaxt cases where you need translations... now I'm very busy, but if there's time, then I can register and we can work on it, on Movim

Absolutly, the best way to understand the sense of phrases is to read Movim.eu in english ⇒ http://movim.eu/home&l=en |🇬🇧

We can't however provide several versions of each language : given the number of languages we translate, it would really "too much" in the list. You will find a formulation that will suit everyone ☺ It's not so difficult, and our priority is to offer as many languages as possible, but without it becomes difficult to maintain for next versions and for the software translation.

You are of course free to register on CodingTeam : - translations for the website : http://codingteam.net/project/movim_website/i18n - translations for the software : http://codingteam.net/project/movim/i18n (still in developpement)

We don't have any contributor in your language. If you are interested, we will be happy to welcome you ☺

You can also check the wiki for any contribution http://wiki.movim.eu/

Movim is developped by two main characters : Edhelas and Etenil. You could meet them (and me ^^) on this Chan : http://www.jappix.com/?r=movim@muc.jappix.com

This is not a good way to translate programs. You should use things like GNU gettext and provide a friendly interface to easily translate your text ... like on launchpad: https://launchpad.net/+tour/translation.

We don't use gettext because it's an optionnal php module that's is not provided by common free hosting services. Drupal doesn't use gettext anymore, but we stay compatible with gettext.

We chose CodingTeam, that provide a "friendly interface to easily translate our text". That is not just your favourite LaunchPad 😉

Well, good to know ... because I thought you wanted to post all your stuff here and get it translated by us right here in the thread. That would have been somewhat less than perfect.

But .... This has been done!

It's just that people are too lazy to register on Launchpad or CodingTeam, so I offered to copy myself the strings 😳
