Hallo,

ich nutze Ubuntu Mate 23.04 und habe wiederholt Abstürze folgender Art: Ich klicke auf einen Tab in Firefox oder auf Senden in Thunderbird, dann schaltet sich der Bildschirm dunkel und nach einiger Zeit erscheint der Displaymanager um mich wieder anzumelden. Dies passiert nicht immer, aber relativ häufig.

Wenn du wieder bei der Anmeldung (Displaymanager) landest, stürzt "nur" dein Desktop -also Mate- ab. Du solltest deshalb in den Logdateien Hinweise finden, wo es weh tut.

Ram, volle Platte, Temp ... eher unwahrscheinlich, aber du kannst es mal prüfen. ☹

Welche Logdateien speziell?

Und schon wieder abgestürzt als ich in Thunderbird auf Senden geklickt habe. Würde es was helfen, wenn ich syslog oder/und kern.log als Anhang sende? hw-probe ergibt folgendes:https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=731befae67

Mate ist meines Wissens sehr progressiv. Lt. Werbung wird ab 23.04 Wayland genutzt - prüfen! Zu X wechseln, damit du eine xorg Log bekommst. syslog, xsession - wir haben doch keine Ahnung, wo es humpelt.

Zur Zeit gibt es keine besonderen Probleme, wobei 23.04 neu ist und ich Mate nicht kenne! Mate, alte Hardware, 23.04 ... Kombi ... ☹

2x 2GB Ram sind in der heutigen Zeit etwas sparsam.

Die swap wird schon benutzt. Zwar nur minimal aber immerhin. Der Arbeitsspeicher ist zu klein.

Oder eine andere Oberfläche z.b. Xubuntu benutzen. Könnte mir vorstellen, das Mate zuviele Ressourcen frisst.

Firefox und Thunderbird, sind das Snaps, oder sind die aus den PPAs als klassische DEB-Pakete installiert? Wiki-Artikel:

Eigentlich war ich der Meinung ich hätte eine Xorg.0.log rangehangen aber hier noch einmal. Die syslog hat 2696130 Bytes. Soll ich die trotzdem ranhängen? Ihr habt vielleicht keine Ahnung wo es humpelt, könnt aber sicher die Logs besser interpretieren als ich. Für mich sieht da einiges rätselhaft aus, aber was davon kritisch ist?

Erklär das mit dem sparsam mal meinem Laptop wenn da nicht einfach ne Kohle, sprich Ram, nachgeworfen werden kann. 😉 Wie lange benutzt Du denn Deine Rechner in der Regel? Der ist halt von 2017.

Ich gehe davon aus, dass es sich, wenn Ubuntu das heute so handhabt, um Snaps handelt. Ich hatte erst 22.10 von USB installiert und dann über Terminal den Upgrade auf 23.04 gemacht. Wäre PPA besser?
