Hello. I am trying to improve the ubuntu wiki. I'm a member of the Lubuntu https://launchpad.net/~kanliot documentation/wiki team. I don't speak the german language.

First, I am trying to improve our Lubuntu wiki on help.ubuntu.com. I've seen the ubuntuusers wiki front page. http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Startseite

It's wonderful! I love the graphics and the design!

But, I have some questions.

Do you use moin moin? Is it possible I could see the code so I can do a little copy/paste?

Thanks so much. kanliot

Hi.

Actually we do not use moin moin. In fact we use a self-developed Software called "inyoka". I don't know how similar to moin moin the syntax is, but you can take a look on the code of every page by clicking on "Verlauf" on top of the page

Hi,

actually some of the syntax is similar to the older MoinMoin syntax - simply because ubuntuusers.de used Moin a few years back. Nowadays, as far as I know, Moin uses more Creole-style (standardized) syntax, which is different from ours.

Besides that, the start page makes heavy use of templates, dynamically rendered out of Inyoka's own template language (which may be described best as a small subset of the powerfull Jinja2 template engine). Thus, adapting the design for you simply means: get insprired by it and rebuild from scratch in MoinMoin. ☺

Regards, noisefloor

Ok, thanks for pointing me at the code. (I didn't look hard enough)

And I understand that moin moin can't use your code. Because ubuntuusers.de uses one or two layers of templates.

What about your png images? Can I use them on help.ubuntu.com?

They are basic tango icons.

Hi kanliot ☺ ,

icons from Tango and Oxygen projects are licensed under their condidtions (public domain and (CC-BY-SA-3.0 or LGPL)) (see "sourecode" which icons are used). As jug said: Our own icons are adapted from Tango project (and are licensed under our license).

Just keep in mind: Lubuntu might be getting a few new icons. Would be frankly spoken perfect if this gets reflected. To my opinion the structure of this wiki here is pretty neat. Tagging of the pages does another trick. Never seen a mindmap of the structure, yet.
