Hallo,

mein neu erworbener WLAN-USB-Stick wird zwar von Ubuntu 18.04.1 als USB-Gerät erkannt allerdings nicht als WLAN-Stick.

lsusb:

1
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:a811 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 

und

modprobe -c | grep -i "0bda.*a811"

gibt keine Ausgabe.

Die Installation des Treibers von der mitgelieferten CD ist auch mit Kompilierungsfehlern abgebrochen.

Ich habe bereits einige Anleitungen ohne Erfolg durchgearbeitet.

Du musst den Treiber manuell und sinnvollerweise mittels DKMS installieren → https://github.com/gordboy/rtl8812au

Wichtiger Nachtrag: Die hier verwendete Geräte-ID ist bisher noch unbekannt, kann aber in der ../rtl8812au/os_dep/linux/usb_intf.c hinzugefügt werden.

Achtung: da das Modul nicht signiert ist, muss dazu Secure-Boot des BIOS/UEFI abgeschaltet werden! Ansonsten lädt das System das Treibermodul nicht in den Kernel.

Zu SB siehe z.B. ...

Wer Secure-Boot nicht im BIOS/UEFI deaktivieren will oder kann, hat alternativ auch die Möglichkeit den Boot-Check durch Shim unter Linux zu deaktivieren. Secure-Boot des UEFI bleibt dabei aktiviert, allerdings werden Bootloader (GRUB), Kernel und Kernelmodule nicht mehr durch den Shim-Bootloader überprüft!

Nur unter Linux den SB Status abfragen/abschalten:
