Hallo Community,

bei einigen Programmen habe ich das Problem, dass ich statt Zeichen nur Kästchen angezeigt bekomme. Somit kann ich die ganzen Menüs nicht lesen. Auffällig ist, dass dies nur bei Programmen zu passieren scheint, die ich mit Snap installiert habe, z. B.:

Chromium (zum Glück nur beim Speichern-Dialog), Xournal++ (komplett unbrauchbar) und Folding@home (komplett unbrauchbar)

Die meisten Programme, die ich nutze, habe ich mit Synaptic installiert, da hatte ich diese Probleme bislang nicht. Leider finde ich manches nur als Snap, so dass ich diese Option gerne hätte.

Fehlt mir da eine Schriftart? Oder gibt es sonst eine Lösung?

Das ist eine möglichkeit, oder die schriftarten haben nicht die richtige zugriffsrechte.

Schriftarten findest du unter /usr/share/fonts

Meistens unter truetype, aber opentype ist auch eine möglichkeit.

Rechte: 755 root:root für die verzeichnisse, 644 root:root für die einzelne dateien.

Reicht auch nicht ganz: aber jetzt wo du festgestellt hast, dass die schriftarten da und die rechte in ordnung sind fehlt nur der letzte schliff ☺

sudo fc-cache -f -v

WICHTIG: um mit den schriftarten vernünftig arbeiten zu können, müssen die in unterverzeichnisse gespeichert sein.

Zb., alle Times New Roman .TTF dateien sind in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/'Times New Roman' abgelegt. Sonst verlierst du das überblick, und das system vielleicht auch.

Ich bekomme die Meldung "fc-cache: erfolgreich".

WICHTIG: um mit den schriftarten vernünftig arbeiten zu können, müssen die in unterverzeichnisse gespeichert sein.

Ich denke, das ist OK bei mir. Der Ordner "truetype" ist genau so organsiert. Ich habe die ganzen Schriftarten auch mit Synaptic installiert und selbst nicht weiter 'rumsortiert.

Leider immer noch Kästchen ☹

Um welche Schriftart könnte es sich handeln? Ich bilde mir ein, alles installiert zu haben, was "unserem" Alphabet entspricht.

Stehen all schriftarten zur verfügung in z.b. Libreoffice Writer?

Zwei schriftarten sind "essentiell", Liberation und ubuntu. Liberation ist default für programme, ubuntu für die GUI (menus, ikone etc.).

Die beiden verwende ich bereits in LibreOffice. Die sind da!

Da kann ich nicht mitreden. Ich lösche crap, 'tschuldigung, snapd gleich beim update oder installation. Bis jetzt hat alles bei mir am besten über PPAs funktioniert.

Oder direkt im CLI.

Da Snap immer häufiger genutzt werden, kommen auch immer mehr Ungereimtheiten "auf den Tisch". Es fehlt grundsätzlich an dieser Stelle noch Erfahrung.

Diese Schriftkiste scheint nicht trivial zu sein! Motto, "Schrift ins home und fertig". 🐸
