Hallo zusammen,

habe den VLC-Player 1.1.4 über den Software-Center installiert. Wenn ich nun das Programm starte und mit der Maus auf das VLC-Fenster zeige wird die Monitore(3) schwarz und der Login Bildschirm erscheint! Woran kann es liege das VLC-Player den Desktop zum abstürzen bringt?

Meine Hardware 2 Nvidia 8800 GT Grafikkarten und 3 Monitore. Grafiktreiber Nvidia 256.33 (Xinerama)

könnte sein, dass 'RandR' und 'xinerama' zusammen das Problem verursachen (zu dem Thema gibt's auch die eine, oder andere Bug-Meldung)

Hast Du schon einmal versucht 'xinerama' zu deaktivieren?

Hallo gogol, du hast Recht. Nachdem ich Xinerama deaktiviert habe konnte ich VLC normal ausführen. Nur bist zur 10.04 konnte ich diese Einstellung ohne diese Probleme benutzen.

Ich häng' mal den folgenden Link zu Deiner Info an:

Das Problem scheint es wohl schon etwas länger zu geben - aber eine klare Ursache scheint man leider noch nicht gefunden zu haben (es wird aber auch hier die Deaktivierung von 'Xinerama' empfohlen).

Es könnte am VLC selbst liegen (oder hast Du das Problem auch mit anderen Programmen?). Ebensogut könnte aber auch der Nvidia-Treiber die Ursache sein (sofern der sich denn geändert hat). Es würde mich daher interessieren, ob der Fehler auch mit dem VLC 1.0.6 "Goldeneye" auftritt.

Kannst Du dazu was sagen?

Habe nun auch mal andere Software versucht! "KID3" passiert genau das gleiche wie bei VLC. In diesem Fall wird es wohl nicht am VLC sondern Grafiktreiber oder Ubuntu liegen. Wenn ich VLC Windows-Version im "Wine" installiere gibt es diese Probleme nicht!

Das bedeutet wohl abwarten und Tee trinken bis es wieder funzt!!!

Warum verwendest Du eigentlich Xinerama? Ich habe mal irgendwo gelesen, dass xRandR ab Version 1.2 dieselbe Funktionalität haben soll.

Ich muss allerdings gestehen, dass ich mich da nicht so auskenne (habe eben nur einen Bildschirm).

Hallo gogol,

Xinerama verwende ich weil bei 3 Monitore ich die Möglichkeit habe alle Fenster von Monitor zu Monitor zu schieben und zu vergößern! (Windows like, da hat halt Windows die NASE Vorn!) Ohne Xinerama hätte ich dann 3 eigenständige Desktops! Xrandr konnte ich leider nicht mit 2 Grafikkarten verwenden, mit 1 war es kein Problem!

Xinerama tut in 10.10 derzeit nicht mit QT/KDE Anwendungen.

Habe das gleiche Problem. Momentan sind 2 Grafikkarten und 3 Monitore deshalb außer betrieb ☹

Am einfachsten ist's dort zu subscriben und zu klicken das man den Bug auch hat. Das erhöht beim Beheben die dringlichkeit und man bleibt außerdem auf dem Laufenden.
