Nein, so link bin ich nicht, daß mein Nicht-recht-zum-Thema-Hinweis andere gemeint hätte – galt mir. Außerdem kann ja hier jeder äußern, was er will, sofern es mehr oder weniger entfernt mit dem Thema zusammenhängt. Griffige Definition übrigens in einem Deiner Verweise auf Wikidingens, ausnahmsweise auch für Normalbenutzer (Techniklaien) verständlich: „Das BIOS [..] ist in einem nichtflüchtigen Speicher auf der Hauptplatine eines PC abgelegt und wird unmittelbar nach dessen Einschalten ausgeführt. Aufgabe des BIOS ist es unter anderem, den PC zunächst funktionsfähig zu machen und im Anschluß das Starten eines Betriebssystems einzuleiten.“
Demnach ist ein UEFI-Dingens nach wie vor eine Form von BIOS, wie ich schon sagte. Aber gehört tatsächlich nur am Rande zum Thema... Wieder ganz themenbezogen: Mich würde nun, wie gesagt, interessierten, was das vom Themenstarter erwähnte aktivierte BIOS-Überwachungsprogramm tut, wenn es eine Ubuntu-Installation auf der Festplatte vorfindet.

Nur weil Du jetzt die Definition für BIOS aus dem Wikipedia teilweise zitierst, hast Du damit noch in keiner Weise belegt, dass "UEFI eine Form von BIOS" ist, sondern lediglich die WIki-Definition von BIOS zitiert. Dass "UEFI eine Form von BIOS" sei ist genauso ein Quatsch wie " BIOS … bezeichnet also den Urlader eines Rechners".

Hallo Gemeinschaft, habe jetzt Windows noch einmal neu installiert (von einem USB-Stick den ich kurz nach dem Kauf erstellt habe), aber die Überwachungssoftware von Absolute Software ist wieder da. Bei Acer noch einmal angerufen. Der Herr war der Meinung, dass Acer solche Software im BIOS/UEFI seiner Laptops nicht einsetzt und
auch nicht "nachinstalliert". Er Support denkt bestimmt, dass ich ein Dieb bin. In Kaspersky kann ich die Software sehen und auch komplett sperren. Avira und McAfee erkennt die Software nicht, auch nicht als unliebsame Software. Jetzt stellt sich wieder die Frage: Kann ich Ubuntu verwenden, oder reist mir das ein Sicherheitsloch in Ubuntu?

Ich im Moment auch nicht. Es ist die Frage: hat es unter Linux einen anderen Namen?
Ich habe mal den Support von Absolute angeschrieben ... Wenn man sich in das Thema etwas einarbeitet ... UEFI wird in Zukunft sehr interessant werden.
Da wird es egal sein, ob man Windows, Ubuntu oder macOS nutzten wird. 😠 Hans, ich danke dir soweit erst einmal.

Hallo Lidux, deinstallieren kann man es nicht direkt, man kann die zwei Dateien nur vorübergehend per Hand löschen.
Oder man kann das nach Hause telefonieren z.B. über Kaspersky verhindern. Das Tool sitzt im BIOS/UEFI und installiert sich immer wieder neu, wenn es weg ist! Meine Tests:
Neuinstallation von Windows = wieder da;
Ubuntu (MATE) installiert = nichts auffälliges (siehe Task-Liste);
Windows wieder installiert = wieder da Der Softwarehersteller kann es aus der Ferne deaktivieren, wenn es vom BIOS/UEFI unterstützt wird.
Das wäre aber die Frage. Auch muss ich nachweisen, dass ich der Eigentümer bin. Ich versuche gerade herauszufinden (Internet) welche IP-Adressen dieses Tool nutzt.
So könnte man die IP-Adressen sperren.

Vorher war die nicht da. Auch hat vorher Kaspersky nichts angezeigt.
Ich wollte auf Ubuntu wechseln, habe das BIOS/UEFI einem Update unterzogen.
Dann ging die Prozessorauslastung auf 50% und der Lüfter lief ständig. Im Task-Manager unter Windows geschaut: Kaspersky und die rpcnetp.exe haben sich da ohne Pause "bekämpft".
In Kaspersky wird nun die rpcnetp.exe angezeigt und auch eine weitere Datei die direkt unter "Absolute Software" zu finden ist. Ich habe noch ein Backup von Windows, welches weit vor den Vorfall stammt.
Dieses Backup habe ich nie mit dem "veränderten" Windows in Kontakt gebracht.
Die Installation brachte keine Änderung. Möglicherweise war die Datei schon vorher da, aber sehr unwahrscheinlich.
Auch müsste Kaspersky im selben Moment Änderungen an seiner Software vorgenommen haben, das ist auch sehr unwahrscheinlich.

Moin. tcpdump ist bekannt? Starte doch mal Ubuntu, installiere die tcpdump und lass den Rechner mal ein paar Minuten laufen, ohne das du großartig rumsurfst. Z.B. via:

5.nflog (Linux netfilter log (NFLOG) interface)

8.usbmon2 (USB bus number 2) Normalerweise müsste in der Liste doch wlan0, lan0 stehen?
Wenn ich "any" nutze, so kommt: syntax error.

Probier enp4s0f0. eth0 bzw wlan0 wurde mittlerweile abgelöst.
